Who is VSC for?
Christian college-age musicians, including those on the graduate and post-graduate level.
How long is the term?
Nine weeks: June 7 to August 9, 2008.
How much is the cost?
$5,000 covers everything.
Are there scholarships available?
Yes. Very substantial scholarships are available and are awarded based on performance.
What is the musical emphasis?
Individual performance development. Five hours of individual practice a day. Two private lessons per week – additional lessons from guest clinicians.
What can I accomplish at VSC?
Perfection and maturation of technical skill. Preparation for professional and graduate school auditions, particularly where scholarships are at stake. Memorization of literature. Learning opera roles and preparing recitals.
Is college credit given.
Yes. We offer up to two performance credits for the entire 9 week term.
What is the spiritual emphasis?
Encouraging a philosophy of honoring Christ through music and worshipping God in the beauty of holiness.
Are there music groups?
Chamber music groups (including piano duets), opera workshop and vocal ensembles.
What are some of the musical activities?
Recitals, master classes, public concerts (Including July 5 celebration at Whitewater and final concert at UW Whitewater August 8), street performances, and ministry of music at Camp Joy and in local churches. Attendance to classical concerts in Chicago, Madison and Milwaukee.
Are there other activities?
Hiking, skiing, boating, fishing, organized and unorganized recreation, witnessing and field trips.
